Background: Traditional, baseline fertility treatments regularly look for hormonal problems, obvious physical blockages, structural abnormalities, ovulation issues, and semen issues. However, many couples suffer from "unexplained" infertility, meaning the true causes are concealed at a deeper cellular, molecular, or environmental level. Currently, worldwide, nearly 30% of infertile couples are identified in this category. Still, there is a difference of opinion among physicians on the treatment and management of unexplained subfertility
Objective: This keynote talk highlights the newly identified "extended" causes of infertility—such as environmental toxins, air pollution, lifestyle modifications, and microscopic changes in the reproductive tract —and outlines how modernised hospitals are diagnosing and treating them.
Extended Factors & Causes: Recent research findings have shown that everyday environmental and lifestyle factors initiate infertility. It includes continuous exposure to hormone-disrupting chemicals, microplastics (microbeads < 5mm), low-grade inflammation from processed diets, pesticides, unseen immune system imbalances and imbalances in the reproductive microbiome that ultimately cause the female body to reject embryos. Further, in males, routine standard tests often miss "sperm DNA fragmentation" (unknown microdamage to genetic material)
Diagnosis: These complex multifactorial issues in fertility medicine have made massive advances forward: currently using non-invasive DNA screening on embryos, updated mapping technology to check the health of the uterine microbiome, and using specialized tests to check for sperm genetic damage
Innovative Treatments' Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy to revitalise aging ovaries and refresh thin uterine linings, and using artificial Intelligence (AI) for the selection of the most viable embryos for IVF, and using modern solutions, including microfluidic sperm sorting
Conclusion: Infertility is no longer just traditional, baseline fertility treatments; now, the causes are at the molecular and cellular levels, and highly targeted, high-tech tools to diagnose and treat them —doctors can dramatically improve the chances of a successful, healthy pregnancy.
